Gianna Jessen - Abortion Survivor

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed: to love the LORD thy God, to obey his voice, and to cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Eucharist - FIRE '11 - Jesus Youth Mumbai

A small snippet of the sharing on the Holy Eucharist, by Shiji Lyndon and myself at Tabor Bhavan for the FIRE '11 retreat organized by Jesus Youth Mumbai.

1 Corinthians 11:23 - 29 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.

The FIRE '11 retreat, held at Tabor Bhavan, Kalyan from June 9 to June 12, was led by Fr. George Kumblumoottil O.P. and Bro. Elvis Kottooran, where 320 participants were rejuvenated by the mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Thanks and praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ, for His mighty presence and for the transformation in the lives of the organizers and the participants.

Christians persecuted in Orissa

It is almost three years since the Kandhamal riots in which many Christians were persecuted. One among the priests persecuted was Fr. Thomas Chellan, whose testimony is presented in the video above. It was a great shock for us when these terrible events happened, more so because many years ago we were greatly privileged to meet and know Fr. Chellan personally when he had stayed with us in Mumbai for some days.

I am presenting these stories right now, because we need to remember those who suffered for the sake of being Christians and we should never forget these events. May we all pray that such events may never take place again and that the mercy of the Lord to be bestowed upon those perpetrators of such violence. I also pray that the good Lord may bless the victims of this violence, so that all their wounds - psychological and spiritual may be healed and may they rejoice that the Lord in His wisdom chose them to undergo this pain for His sake.

Road of Hope - Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan

His cause for beatification opened

Matthew 10:37-39 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.
John 16:33 I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Cardinal Francis Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan spent more than 13 years in a Vietnamese prison; 9 years of which were spent in solitary confinement, all for his faith in the Lordship of Christ Jesus. Recorded on the Feast of the Holy Rosary, October 7, 1976, in Phu-Khanh prison, during his solitary confinement: "I am happy here, in this cell, where white mushrooms are growing on my sleeping mat, because You are here with me, because You want me to live here with You. I have spoken much in my lifetime: now I speak no more. It's Your turn to speak to me, Jesus; I am listening to You."

During his imprisonment he wrote 'The Road of Hope' a gospel from prison. In 1988, he was released from prison and placed under house arrest. Later in 1991, he was exiled from his native Vietnam and spent the last many years of his life in Rome, where he was appointed President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. Under his leadership and guidance 'The Social Agenda' - A Collection of Magisterial Texts was compiled in the year 2000. The "Social Agenda" is now available and downloadable at www.thesocialagenda.com and www.thesocialagenda.org. He died of cancer in 2002 and his cause for beatification is presently open at the Vatican.

Amazing Grace - Rev. Mr. Larry Oney

Amazing Grace - Dcn. Larry Oney from Renewal Ministries on Vimeo.

Revelation 5:1-10 And I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals; and I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?" And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I wept much that no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. Then one of the elders said to me, "Weep not; lo, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals." And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders, I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth; and he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints; and they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy art thou to take the scroll and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and by thy blood didst ransom men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and hast made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth."

Vatican decree reconciles woman who sought priestly ordination :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)

Can. 1024 Only a baptised man can validly receive sacred ordination.

In 1976, the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith discussed the issue of the ordination of women and issued a Declaration on the Question of the Admission of Women to the Ministerial Priesthood which concluded that for various doctrinal, theological, and historical reasons, the Church "... does not consider herself authorized to admit women to priestly ordination."

You never let go - Matt Redman

Matt Redman - You Never Let Go .mp3

One of my absolutely favourite songs. What more can I say - just listen. Hallelujah!

YOU NEVER LET GO – MATT REDMAN

Even though I walk through the valley, of the shadow of death, your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle, of the storms of this life,
I won’t turn back, I know you are near
And I will fear no evil, for my God is with me, and if my God is with me,
Whom then shall I fear? Whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, you never let go, through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, you never let go, in every high and every low
Oh no, you never let go, Lord, you never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming, for the heart that holds on, a glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles, but until that day comes
We’ll live to know you here on the earth
And I will fear no evil, for my God is with me, and if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear? Whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, you never let go, through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, you never let go, in every high and every low
Oh no, you never let go, Lord, you never let go of me
You keep on loving and you never let go
Singing
Oh no, you never let go, through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, you never let go, in every high and every low
Oh no, you never let go, Lord, you never let go of me

Yes I can see a light that is coming, for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles, but until that day comes
Still I will praise you, still I will praise you
I can see the light
Yes I can see a light that is coming, for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles, but until that day comes
Still I will praise you, still I will praise you

Oh no, you never let go, through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, you never let go, in every high and every low
Oh no, you never let go, Lord, you never let go of me
So strong, so wise, so loving God

Oh no, you never let go, through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, you never let go, in every high and every low
Oh no, you never let go, Lord, you never let go of me
Oh Lord, you never let go of me

Shahbaz Bhatti - a Christian martyr

Shahbaz Bhatti, Minister of minority affairs in the Pakistani government was shot dead for speaking against the blasphemy law in his country.

As Tertullian said, "Plures efficimur, quoties metumur a vobis; semen est sanguis Christianorum" (We multiply whenever we are mown down by you; the blood of Christians is seed).

May his blood and the blood of many other Christians which has been shed, be the seed for the growth of the Church in Pakistan.

Arise, shine and share Christ

“Many, many people hereabouts are not becoming Christians for one reason only: there is nobody to make them Christians”. – St. Francis Xavier. This is a provocative statement from one of the most prominent missionaries of the Church. If the statement was true in the 16th century during St. Francis Xavier’s time, I believe it’s even more valid in this present day and age. St. Paul states in Rom 10:14-15a How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? and how shall they preach, except they be sent?

Code of Canon Law (Cann. 781-792) deals with The Missionary Action of The Church http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG1104/__P2L.HTM. Since I am no authority on Canon Law, all I can do is present the same as is. Can. 781 states this - Since the whole Church is by its nature missionary and the work of evangelization must be held as a fundamental duty of the people of God, all the Christian faithful, conscious of their responsibility, are to assume their part in missionary work.

The Catholic Church - bulwark of truth

"There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be."- Arch Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. This particular statement I believe, is not just true for the United States of America but applies to the whole world.

The Bible clearly states in 1Timothy 3:15b the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth. The Church is the foundation / the bulwark of truth. The truth is not not a 'what' but a 'who' and the truth is the person of Jesus Christ. The Church is the body of Christ and the head is Jesus Christ. And as the Church is the body of Christ (who is the fullness of truth) the Church is the bulwark of the truth; and as Christ Himself states in Matthew 16:18  And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

I would encourage anyone and everyone to watch this very interesting interview of Mr. Michael Voris, S.T.B., president and founder of St. Michael’s Media, who also heads RealCatholicTV.com paint a vivid picture elaborating on the truth and claims of the Catholic Church.

The Miracle of Life

Deut 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed;

Therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live - says the Lord. Choosing life and preserving life is the call that we all need to accept and obey. It's the cornerstone of our relationship with our Abba Father.

Psalm 139:13-14a For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:. So let's all who are alive continue to give glory and thanks the the Lord God Almighty who formed each of us in our respective mother's womb. And let's always remember that the 'foetus' in the mother's womb is a human baby and it's a child, it's a child, it's a child. Abortion is murder; a mortal sin and Rom 6:23a the wages of sin is death.

Chesed ve-Emet - Johana Kocnarova

When I decided to create my own blog, I was inspired to name it 'chesed ve-emet' a Hebrew phrase which means 'lovingkindness and truth'.

Then I was led, to check the web for things related to 'chesed ve-emet' and providentially, I came across a beautiful rendition of Psalm 85:10-11 in Hebrew by Johana Kocnarova. The lyrics in Hebrew (English transliteration) and the English translation are as follows:

Chesed ve'emet nifgashu
Tsedek veshalom nashaku
Emet me'erets titsmach
Vetsedek mishamayim nishkaf

Lovingkindness and truth have met
Justice and peace have kissed each other
Out of the earth truth shall spring
And from heaven justice shall look down.

So with a grateful and joyful heart, I lift up to my Lord Jesus Christ a small offering to the glory of His name.
